About- Mommy Strength

Share

Hey, What’s Up! I’m Jason Yun! I created Mommy Strength because I was tired of all my female clients getting pregnant and leaving me 🙂

Just kidding!

It evolved from another online site that I created called LBN Online Strength & Fitness Workouts.  It’s a workout site where I took all of my old bootcamp workouts and basically just put them online. But I pretty soon realized that it was much too high impact for expecting mothers.

So I took all the workouts I put on LBN and redesigned them for Mommy Strength. Making the first ever, Online Workout Community for Moms with the best workouts to keep you safe and strong throughout your pregnancy and to help get you back to your pre-pregnancy body and beyond!

It’s been a journey. In May 2012, I drove 10 hours to New York City to get my certification as a Perinatal Fitness Instructor.

Shortly after that I knew I needed some workout moms to start filming the workouts. I’m someone who is a huge believer in the law of attraction, it just so happened one of my clients emailed me saying she had to stop bootcamp because she was pregnant!

I said ‘NO!’ This is just the beginning 🙂

She eagerly came on board in August. And we filmed 2nd and 3rd Trimester workouts….she had her baby…..

She came back, we shot postpartum and challenge workouts. Then she got pregnant again and we were able to shoot some 1st trimester workouts. Whew!

And ever since August 2012, I’ve been busy filming workouts. So far I’ve worked with 9 total moms. And happy to say along the way, my own wife and I are expecting our first child in July 2014 (she is one of the workout mom’s you’ll have a chance to workout with on Mommy Strength)

I know your going to love the workouts and the education/nutrition modules coming soon.

A little about me and my transformation into the world of fitness and perinatal fitness:

I followed the same bodybuilding routine year after year from the age of 19 to 25 produced some awesome results that I was happy about at the time. Really strong (or so I thought) and really big (around 215-222 pounds at 5’10”) But what I didn’t expect was the dreaded plateau. I didn’t think it could happen to me! But it did! I had a complete lack of motivation. It was hard to even get myself to go in to the gym, and when I did it was the same routine– same weights, same sets, same reps, same results. I was brainwashed into thinking that bodybuilding style was the only way to train—- Thanks, Arnold!

But boy was I wrong, and boy was I happy when I found a new way of training. It started with kettlebells, and moved into resistance bands, then intervals, and playground training, and it has evolved ever since! I know that feeling of being trapped inside of a boring gym or workout routine. Mommy Strength smashes boredom and takes your fitness, health, and life to a new level of AWESOMENESS!

You never ever have to repeat a workout again— unless of course you want too! You pick the Workout Mom you want to workout out with based on where you are with your Pregnancy:

  • 1st Trimester
  • 2nd Trimester
  • 3rd Trimester
  • Post-Partum
  • Post-Post-Partum
  • Challenge
  • Yoga
  • And more to come…….

And you get to workout with someone who is going through exactly what you’re going through.

My Story

I graduated from  The Ohio State University (03), with an earned Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sports and Leisure Studies with an emphasis in fitness, coaching, and recreation. When I graduated I moved to Louisville, KY for an internship with the University of Louisville and the Olympic Sports teams there. Mostly working with Softball, Women’s Basketball and soccer I absolutely loved it! And thought that I found my calling. And started figuring out what I needed to do to become a collegiate strength and conditioning coach.

Snag #1

You need a graduate degree. No biggie, right. So I applied to East Stroudsberg University in Pennsylvania. They had one of the best exercise science programs. I attended classes for 3 days. School has never been for me and I couldn’t do anymore school. So I dropped out. However, while I was there they did dedicate the Rocky statue in Philadelphia which I happily attended– one of the greatest days of my life.

Snag #2

Got a real job and got stuck for a while. So I moved back home, back in with my mom (everyone’s dream as an adult). Got a job doing collections but plans were to open up my own Strength and Conditioning business. But I got stuck in the 9 to 5.

Snag #3

Back injury. When I came back from PA, my back was hurting even more then normal from a deadlifting injury– herniated disc…… probably from all the time I spent in the car. So decided to take time off from lifting weights. Lost 72 pounds in 6 months, went into a major depression. The job of collections where I would call people and yell at them and they at me didn’t help matters. But in the end it all worked out, thanks to a program for anxiety and depression, and finding kettlebells (still me favorite implement to train with). I then opened up my business Yun Strength and Fitness Systems, LLC in October 2007. Called myself the Backyard Strength Coach, where I would go to young athlete’s and train them. But…. I never went to anyone’s back yard 🙂 lose weight with online fitness boot camps

So I then started In-home personal training, picked up two clients pretty easily but couldn’t get anymore after that. Toiled along training two clients and still doing 30 hours at my collections job, I then found Bootcamps.

Turning Point #1

Opened up my first Bootcamp program called Yun Fitness Bootcamps in July 2008. And it took off from there. Here is where I developed my craft of developing awesome, intense interval training workouts.

Turning Point #2

Met my future wife (and one of our Workout Mom’s) in class in October the same year. Got married 9/17/11 🙂

Turning Point  #3

Hired a business coach in November 2009, and at one of the meetings he suggested starting an online workout site. As you know, it turned out to be LBN Online Strength and Fitness Workouts. It launched 12/29/10 as The Look Better Naked Online Bootcamp. And that turned into Mommy Strength…… And the rest is history……. Workout History! I look forward to adding the best online workouts for you based on where you are in your pregnancy. And I look forward, as well as the other moms, to being coach and workout partner— doesn’t matter if it is online or not! When you sign up for Mommy Strength, YOU are my client and together we will reach your body, fitness and health goals! Stay Strong, Stay Positive, Be The Improvement Warrior! Sincerely, Jason Yun workout with streaming fitness
